The first thing you notice when visiting Tuti Nursery is the children. They’re always happy. That’s because all the money raised from donations is helping them to make a future for themselves. We can only continue to do this by making the school financially sustainable and totally self sufficient.
That’s where you come in. By making a one-off donation or pledging money to the school each month through Direct Debit or PayPal. No amount is too small and every single penny is spent supporting the children.
For as little £10 a month you can sponsor a child or staff member. Everyone who donates, receives regular updates, school reports, photos and artwork from the children.
Or you can simply donate towards the following:

Stationary;

A nutritional meal each day for the children;

Medical costs for emergency treatment for the children and their families, such as malaria, burns, bites and stings;

Teaching aids and teacher training;

General maintenance and upkeep of buildings, bore holes, toilets, the medical facility and housing accommodation;

Upkeep and development of the garden, including equipment and seasonal seeds and plants.

Stuck for ideas for a birthday, anniversary or special occasion gift? Wrap up a COGS gift. You’ll raise funds for the charity, and the recipient will get a personalised certificate telling them about the gift you purchased on their behalf. It’s the ultimate feel-good way to treat someone.

That thing you want on Ebay or Amazon? When you buy it, you can fundraise for COGS at the same time. And every time you buy something, the retailer makes a donation to COGS at no additional cost to you.

Collect…
Children in The Gambia need stationary not only for nursery, but for primary school and eventually college. Maybe you could organise a ‘fill a shoe box’ activity with local groups and collect pencils, pens, rulers, rubbers, math’s sets, etc, to send to the nursery.
Another big help is collecting unwanted or unused gifts and toys for us to sell on our fundraising stalls.

Or you could see if family, friends, neighbours and work colleagues have any old, used or unwanted clothes and shoes to give. These items are much appreciated at the nursery. Depending on location we maybe able to collect them from you.
Create…
Why not join our army of new and experienced knitters? The children all need warm jumpers, cardigans and knitted blankets. New mums at our birthing facility would love blankets and clothes for their new arrivals too. And if you find any unused or unwanted balls of wool hanging around, please send them our way.
Of course, if sewing is your passion, your could make wash bags for the children’s toiletries, bean bags for play areas, maybe gardening and painting aprons, or plimsoll bags for children graduating to primary school – all things that are very much needed.
